I would like to use the

win -aw [URL];

command to open HTML documents on my computer. Typically this is achieved by replacing the http:// protocol with file:///. This does not work with the win -aw comman as it simply redirects me to www.originlab.com. Has anyone else had sucess or even tried to do this?? Is there another way to open HTML documents directly from Origin? It would be a nice feature to open an HTML file on a local computer in order to design help files in HTML format for distribution with OPKs.

The -s and -sc options were added to allow DOS commands to be executed from within a script. As user CStorey discovered, these new commands only work on NT and Windows 2000 systems.

The c option will automatically close the DOS box that opens when using the s option.

Examples:

run -s "type c:\origin\tips.txt";
run -sc "d: && cd origin && dir *.otp > template.txt";

(Note the use of ampersands to string multiple commands together.)

Thanks for the tip. When I try the command as written I get a message directed to the script window that says the command is only valid for Windows NT/2000. I'm running Windows 98. I checked the help file that I have with Origin 6.1 SR1 and I can't find documentation for the -sc option. My documentation only include the option -e. Can you tell me more about the -sc option and any others that might exist?

I got it to work by using:

run -e C:\..\netscape.exe D:\...\index.htm

Thanks for the help,
Craig

Unfortunately Origin tests for "http" to see if it is an URL, otherwise it thinks it is something in the OriginLab website. Maybe you can just pass it to the OS with something like

run -sc "c:\junk\test\mytest.htm";

This should work on most systems.
