Although the manual says that user input from the getstring command is stored in %B, I cannot use the user input because %B does not seem to have the user-entered string.

The following works well for me in 6.0 and 6.1 (all SRs).

Area=0;
GetString (Please Enter Base Area {um}) 1000 Base Area;
Area=%B;
type -b "The Area is %B or $(Area)";
