Posted - 06/22/2004 : 11:27:05 AM I am writing a script to open and convert multiple Ascii files and I was wondering if anyone knows how to open am ASCII file and save each line of the file as a new string element of a dataset. The lines are short, <25 characters, and are mixed text and numeric. I have tried
open -w %A;
trying to import the file into the active worksheet, but I get an error that my file is not ascii, even though it is. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! |

File Structure section... Select Fixed column widths: 25 (?). Uncheck all other boxes.
File header section... Skip main header: 0 lines Select Specify subheader lines: 0
# of Columns: 1
Other Options... Uncheck Rename columns Uncheck Create column labels
...Click Update Options and save as new template. Use that template for future imports.

Posted - 06/22/2004 : 11:50:50 AM I should specify, the error is "File _____ does not seem to consist of columns of Ascii data." What I really want is one big column. |
