Hello,

I would like to import ASCII data from a cd or over the network from another computer on which I may not write using my templates with the associated worksheet scripts.
At the moment, this does not work, because Origin always writes a file called TXT._TO to the folder with the imported data containing the script to be executed on the imported data. So if I may not write in this folder, the data are imported, but the script is not executed.
Is there a solution to this problem?
I'd be glad about any advice
Thanks a lot

Hi Bettina,

The obvious solution is to copy the files to your own PC and import them from there. But I'm sure you've considered that option and rejected it for some reason.

Another workaround is to run your Worksheet script from a button. There are many ways to do that depending on your Origin version but the Custom Routine button is common to all versions and easiest to describe...

1. Tools->Worksheet Script and click Copy. (This copies the Worksheet script.)
2. Open Custom.ogs in Notepad.
3. Paste the Worksheet script under the [Main] section and then save.

Now when you import from CD just click the Custom Routine button to execute the Worksheet script. (Of course this will only work for one template.)

If you have Origin 7.5 you can probably avoid this problem by running your Worksheet script from a filter. See Advanced Options for Import Wizard in your Origin Reference for details.
