Hi,

This question might be stupid but it does bother me a long time. From Origin8.0, the command window changed, from a big floating window to a weird command line format.

In the 7.5, we can type several lines in script mode, then choose to execute them.

In 8.0, I have to write scripts in other word-editor then copy and paste them into origin command window, which is not convenient at all. Also, the window is not floating now, and we can only see a few lines of the scripts (unless I want to sacrifice the main panel and increase the windows size.)

I believe there must be reasons to upgrade the command window to the line format. My question is, what do we gain and how should I utilize the new functions.

Thanks,

Jinbo

Hi Jinbo,

The script window from previous versions has been renamed "Classic Script Window" and is available from the Window->Script Window menu item. So you can bring that up and use this older window if you prefer that.

As for the new Command Window, it can be undocked. Hold the CTRL key and drag the window to undock. Then you can press the pin button on the top left to block it from docking so that it floats. There are some benefits to this new window such as auto completion of XF commands, history panel from where you can save commands to OGS file etc, which are all documented in the help file.
