Posted - 01/26/2023 : 03:52:37 AM When I try to import the originpro package in my python script then I get the following error message:
RuntimeError: Exception in OriginExt::ApplicationBase::LT_get_var ==> invalid pointer
The above exception was the direct cause of the following exception:

SystemError: <built-in function ApplicationBase_LT_get_var> returned a result with an error set
I have Origin 2022 installed with a valid license and Origin is working perfectly fine by itself. I tried to uninstall originpro and then reinstall it again but the error remains. I wrote some python scripts using originpro last year on my old laptop which all worked very well. Now I got a new laptop and when I installed all software again and tried to use originpro the error first occurred. When the error first occurred I had two versions of Origin still installed, 2020 and 2022, so I had our system administrator uninstall the 2020 version so that python can unequivocally use the latest 2022 version. I run a Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise OS, version 10.0.19045 Build 19045, on a Lenovo T14 Gen 3. Any help is very much appreciated, many thanks in advance! |

SOLUTION: After some investigations and tests I found the solution to this issue. After a new installation of Origin it needs to be opened once in administrator mode. Hence, if you work in a company environment and do not possess administrator rights for your computer yourself you have to ask your IT system administrator to open Origin in administrator mode (under your user account) with this credentials once, then close it again. Afterwards, originpro could readily be imported again.
