I recently upgraded from 8.5 to 8.6, however as I was not allowed to chose the old user-data folder several of my settings are missing.
E.g. - import settings used in the impAsc-dialog using "Save as" - export settings used for graphics export saved in the expGraph-dialog using "Save as" - diagram design settings saved in the diagram properties dialog-group tab through the context menu on for example the color settings for a group
I am pretty disappointed, that there is no automatic way of importing these settings from the old 8.5 installation nor does it seem that I can manually transfer them.
Any way how to achieve this?
Thanks, mweiland |

These dialog themes have been saved in the user files folder of your old installation, and Origin 8.6 has a tool "Transfer User Files", which transfers the old (8.5) contents to the current 8.6 installation.
To run this tool, there are two ways:
1) If you start Origin8.6, the dialog "Startup Tips" appears. (If not, maybe you have already suppressed it. If so, you can show it next time if you choose "Help: Reactivate Reminder Messages" menu.) Press "Transfer User Files Now" button to start the "Transfer User Files" tool.
2) You can also choose "Tools: transfer User Files" menu.
Once the tool starts, you can highlight themes etc. to be transfered, and press the right arrow (==>) button. If you see too many customization files, you can filter out by the type.

Hope this was what you have been looking for.
