Hi,
I have a question in regards to making 3d plots.
I have a excel spreadsheet matrix, where in the first row are my X values and in the first column are my Y values and the space in between contains the Z values.
However, the spacing between my data set of X and Y are uneven values.
Here shows my part of data as an example.
1739.16 1737.05 1734.95 1732.85 1730.75
-------------------------------------------
-41 | 1.75E-5 1.48E-5 1.51E-5 -1.23E-6 3.31E-5
-33 | 3.95E-5 3.64E-5 3.68E-5 2.99E-5 2.53E-5
-25 | 3.76E-5 3.8E-5 1.92E-5 2.87E-5 2.31E-5
-17 | 6.57E-5 5.09E-5 4.12E-5 4.11E-5 5.39E-5
-9 | 7.66E-5 9.27E-5 7.95E-5 1.8E-5 3.92E-5
-1 | 1.75E-6 -4.35E-7 -4.86E-5 -4.34E-5 1.81E-5
-0.9| -3.83E-5 -4.91E-5 -9.27E-5 -8.15E-5 -1.66E-5
-0.8| -2.3E-5 -3.09E-5 -3.81E-5 -3.12E-5 9.12E-6
-0.7| 2.13E-5 4.44E-5 5.16E-6 1.82E-5 6.74E-5
-0.6| 2.31E-5 1.13E-5 7.71E-6 -1.58E-6 5.03E-5
-0.5| 6.78E-5 5.36E-5 1.52E-5 2.7E-5 8.02E-5
4 | 3.47E-5 3.33E-5 1.26E-5 1.93E-5 4.78E-5
5 | -2.51E-6 -2.29E-5 -1.46E-5 3.25E-7 6.32E-6
6 | -2.41E-5 -2.2E-5 -1.93E-5 -1.37E-5 -1.88E-6
7 | 4.84E-5 4.36E-5 3.02E-5 3.64E-5 5.7E-5
8 | -3.11E-6 -2.4E-5 -5.65E-6 -3.73E-6 1.6E-5
9 | 2.39E-5 2.38E-5 1.97E-5 5.68E-6 2.6E-5

When I convert data into matrix, the information "uneven space" pop out.
I only can plot the 3D plot with even space, but that is very different to my data set. Would you please help me to fix this problem and show me how to do?
Thank your for your help

Chi-Wen

If you patch up to Service Release 6 there is a new option on the Worksheet menu called "Convert to XYZ". This converts your table into three columns of X, Y and Z values.
With that, you can directly plot a Color Contour or 3D XYZ Scatter, but if you need a surface you can use Worksheet : Convert to Matrix : XYZ Gridding to get a Matrix and plot it as a surface.

Hi Chi-Wen,

You need Origin version 8.5 or higher, to create 3D/Contour plots directly from matrix-like data contained in a worksheet. The spacing for X and Y do not need to be evenly spaced, and this feature is called Virtual Matrix:

You can download the 8.6 demo and try with your data.
