Hello,

is there any way to get a statistical value for the goodness of the fit if i do linear fit with x-error? It seems to me that origin gives me the standard deviation only in such a case.

Origin Ver.: 8.6
Operating System: Windows 7

Greetings
Marco

Hi Marco,

Sorry I misunderstood in my previous post, that I thought you were using linear fit with another column as the weight..

In case you were actually using "Linear Fit with X error" menu item, I'm afraid there is no way to calculate the fit statistics in our current version 8.6.

Sorry again for my misunderstanding.

Hi Kathy,

in the linear fit with x error -> Quantities to compute dialog is no "Fit Statistics" entry. The only entry i have there is "Fit Parameters" where i can check the entries for "values" and "standard error".

If i chose a normal linear fit (without x error) then i have the "Fit Statistics" entry you described.

Is there a way to get these values for the linear fit with x-error?

Greetings
Marco

Hi Marco,

In the fit linear dialog, you'll find a branch called "Quantities to compute", under this branch there is a sub-branch called "Fit Statistics" and there are many parameters which can be used to assess the goodness of fitting, you may choose the one you want by select the check box before the parameter. The corresponding value will be locate in the result sheet.

The fit statistics parameters are available for linear fitting with or without error.

Hope this information helps!

Kathy
