Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 8.0 SR6
Operating System: Windows XP

I'm plagued by this strange problem: if I have a workbook (to make it simple, just has one column A with random numbers) with the following names:

Long name: any name you put here
Short name: R7349G10xI136

If I try to duplicate this workbook, the software always hangs up! The problem goes away if I change the short name to a short one like abc, a1, etc. The same hang-up problem shows up if I try to run any Origin C code to process the workbook data.

Is this a unique bug only in OriginPro 8.0? Could Origin Tech support confirm it? I'm grateful to any explanation about what's going on.

Hi,

This seems to be a bug with 8.0 and 8.1, and has been fixed since Origin 8.5.
