Hi,
I have an annoying simple problem. The dashed and dotted line transform to solid lines as they are printed out. On the screen they are fine. This also for dashed or dotted curves. I have an HP Laserjet 5Si PS printer. What to do ? Grease, and rope ?

Hi,

Try this:
1. Select Tools:Options from the Origin menu.
2. Select the Graph tab.
3. Uncheck Scale Dash Pattern by Line Width
and/or check Use Origin Dashes in Page View.
4. Also, try updating your printer driver.

Something similar, but not exactly equal, happens to me as well. In certain cases some of the lines that I have plotted on the screen, among many others, don't appear on the printer, and they usually are the dashed or dotted ones. This happens on a HP Lj 4000 N with the PCL 6 driver, but the problem remains when I print to PDF or whatever, so it probably is Origin's. My first experience with some solid lines that didn't appear on the printer was some weeks ago, when the "drop-down" lines from a scatter plot vanished when printed. I replotted the graph several times, and removed the data from the graph and included it again, and changed the parameters of the dataset, but nothing could fix it. I couldn't spot the cause.

I have the same problem with Laserjet 6MP. Sometimes (but not always) using the post-script drive works. However, the HP LS6MP standard or enhanced drivers never print dashed or dotted lines.

I have resorted to printing to Acrobat distiller, and then printing the pdf file. Of course, this is clumsy.
