I am used to work with column type numeric,
so I checked "Tools/Options/Miscellaneous/Use Numeric as preferred column type". But strangely Origin 6.0 Prof SR4 quite frequently uses the "Text & Numeric" column type for new worksheets or added columns.

It's soooo bothering...

Hi Gary,

thanks for your reply.

My last short post to this thread pointed out that I already knew the origin of this problem. So I already solved this. But thanks anyway for your comment.

Hi Marko,

Thanks for the question...this dance is a two step!

1. Select the Tools:Options menu item, select the Miscellaneous tab, Check the Use Numeric as preferred column type checkbox, click OK, and then click Yes to Save as Origin's startup Options?.

2. Next, click the New Worksheet button on the Standard toolbar, Double-click on the first column's name A(X), select Numeric for Display type, check the Apply to all columns to the right checkbox, and then click OK. Right-click on the title bar of the worksheet and select Save Template As and save it as Origin.otw.

This should make all new worksheets and new columns have a Numeric display type. Use the Apply to all feature above to change existing columns in existing worksheets.

Hope this does it for you.

this seems to be connected to the template which is used for creating new worksheets...
