marko	Posted - 08/28/2000 : 8:09:00 PM According to my experiences with O4,O5,O6 it looks like it is quite dangerous to use digits in the names of columns and worksheet names. For some reason origin cannot work properly in that case! Are there any restrictions about the use of digits in names? I thought I didn't see something like that in the manual. Anyway, if the first character of a name is non-digit it shouldn't be a problem at all, but it obviously is! Marko

marko	Posted - 09/06/2000 : 8:49:00 PM Hi Lorraine, I am well aware of the fact that I cannot use worksheet or column names STARTING with a number, but what I meant is that they contain numbers somewehere later in the name... For instance the worksheet column 'T0_rR' sometimes might not be accessible, but 'Tb0_rR' will work properly. Yes, it's also my conclusion, it is much safer to exclude any digits from names, that avoids alot of trouble, though it is not understandable... Marko
Lorraine	Posted - 09/05/2000 : 6:19:00 PM Hi Marko, In Origin you cannot name a worksheet/graph window or column name starting with a non-alphanumeric character. Is there a procedure or script that you've used involving the use of digits that has caused an error either in your LabTalk script or with Origin? If so we encourage you to contact your local Origin representative with your script and they will be happy to assist you with the code, and offer suggestions. Because Origin LabTalk script is executed behind the scenes, and worksheet names, or column names in a worksheet are considered as objects in Labtalk script, placing non-alphanumeric characters in the name may cause an error. You would need to keep your column names and worksheet names simple however please remember that you do have the option of using the Window (or worksheet column) LABEL feature. This feature allows you to use longer names that can also contain digits and non alphanumeric characters. Simply go to Window:Rename to find this feature for a child window or double click on a column heading where you will find the label feature for a column.
