Hi, there,

Origin provides us lots of nonlinear fitting function and its corresponding curves, how can I print these functions and curves?

Thanks,

Qidao Zhang

The curves and equations you see when selecting a fitting function in the nonlinear curve fitter are bitmaps which have been built into Origin's code. The only way to print them would be to snag them using some sort of image capturing program like SnagIt32. You would then have to open the captured image in some other application and print the image using the print feature in that application.

Alternatively you could simulate the curve using the default parameters and then copy and paste the function onto the simulated graph from the Edit Function window in the nonlinear curve fitter. Here's a simple description of one way (there are other ways) to do that:

Simulating the Curve

  1. Select Analysis:Nonlinear Curve Fit.
  2. Click the More button to proceed to the 'advanced' mode. If you do not see a More button, you are already there.
  3. Select the Function:Select menu command from the list of fitter menus at the top of the fitter window.
  4. Select a fitting function from the Function list box. For instance, select Boltzmann from the Growth/Sigmoidal Category.
  5. Select Action:Simulate from the list of fitter menus.
  6. Make sure that the Uniform X radio button is selected.
  7. Enter -10 and 10 in the Begin and End text boxes.
  8. Click the Create Curve button.

At this point a simulation of a 60 point Boltzmann curve is created from X = -10 to X = 10 using the default parameters listed in the parameter text boxes.

Adding the Equation to the Curve Simulation

  1. Once the curve is created select Function:Edit from the fitter menus.
  2. Highlight the fitting function in the Description text box.
  3. Right-click on the highlighted equation and select Copy from the shortcut menu.
  4. Right-click on the simulation graph and select Paste.

I hope that this information proves helpful. If I misunderstood your question please describe it again in more detail by responding to this post (click the Reply image).

Sincerely,
Ryan Toomey
