I am running Origin 6.0 SR4.

I am trying to export a graph to *.jpg format. I ask to see the export options and have set DPI Resolution to 600 and color depth to 16-bit Gray Scale with minimum compression. On pressing OK I get an error box

Olmg60.DLL
Origin failed to export temporary bitmap.

I have also tried to export to *.tif format. I have set the reolution to 600 DPI, the color to monochrome and compression to none. I get the same error. Anyone got any ideas?

All I want to do is export the page in a high resolution so that I can import it into Paintshop Pro or Photoshop.

Thanks for any advice, help

David

Origin does create a temporary bitmap to be passed to the third-party library that will then convert the bitmap to the destination format. Windows 95 and 98 are limited to bitmaps smaller than 16MB. A 600 DPI image can easily require more than 16MB of memory. Origin 6.1 has the ability to use a bitmap or a Windows Meta File as the temporary image. Meta Files usually require much less memory than bitmaps, but can differ in quality depending on the image content.

Hi David:

Exporting 600 DPI JPEG and TIF files is a problem for 6.0 users on Win9x. Origin 6.0 generates a temporary bit map when creating these files and the creation of this file can gobble up all of the memory allocated for graphics export, regardless of the amount of RAM that your computer may have.

We have reworked our graphics export for Origin 6.1, and creation of 600 dpi gray scale TIF and JPEG files is now possible under Win9x(though it may take a minute or so to create the file).

Origin 6.0 users who require such high resolution TIF and JPEG files may want to use our graphics export server at
