The list of up-coming bug fixes for ver 6.1 contains:
9) Opening, selecting, adding, editing, or deleting a long fitting function (>250 characters) causes a crash. ID = 8653
It looks as the limit is 250, however this information is not consistent with other information on the tech-support pages

.... If you know your fitting function is too long (i.e. it exceeds 250 characters or 2048 in Origin versions 6.0 and up),
click on the "too long" link above to learn how you can define your fitting function to work with the nonlinear curve fitter. ....
From here it looks as it is 2048, what is correct ?

Hi,
The history of this issue is that the supported length of a user defined fitting function used to be approximately 250 characters. For longer functions the technique of using a Y-Script fitting function that called a section of code in an OGS file worked well but it was not widely known. The limit was raised to 2048 characters in one of the Origin 6.0 service releases (I think SR3 or SR4) when creating and fitting with user defined fitting functions but not when opening, selecting, adding, editing, or deleting such functions. This oversight will be corrected in Origin 6.1 SR1.

The maximum size for a function definition is 2048 characters. |
