Hello,

I thought I should let you know that I really like the new Origin Forum format and the many functions it offers. My one complaint is that it takes a long time to get a reply. Please see the following Tech Support BBS for a model I think Orin should strive to achieve. Logon as a GUEST to gain access.

http://webboard.windowware.com/wbisadll/wbpx.isa/~winware

The average response time is less than 2hrs!!
I understand there are difference in the products but this service really built the company providing it.

Hi Jose,
In regard to the "forum post sequencing issue" you brought up...
We're not sure what caused this problem. We'll investigate further should it happen again.
Unfortunately, the only way to rectify the ordering issue is to edit your existing posts.

Those links should be fine now.
It was because of a problem in detecting those URL tags, if they are not at the beginning of the topic.

Hi Barb,

yes, I knew that notes, and I am trying to use both HTML and Forum codes, but in both cases my links are bad displayed. It seems that the automatic detection of a http: prefix prevails over the coding of a link, and whatever I type is misunderstood. Do you see my links above? They are coded to appear only as a couple of words linked, not to show the whole URL. But you see the result: all the long URL is shown...

Hi Jose,
To read some tips on including links in your posts, take a look at the "Creating a hyperlink in your message" section on the following page:

Yes, the new thing is that I have to login first before being able to edit my messages. It worked, thank you very much. But my links are still bad, doesn't matter if I use HTML of Forum Code! Anyone knows the reason?

Hi Jose,
When you are the author of a post, an Edit Message icon should display above your post, and you can click on that icon to edit the messsage. You probably need to log in before you see it. If it isn't there please let us know.

Hey! How can I edit my last message to repair that stupid link? I can't find the 'edit' button...

I am trying to repeat the html link here again, but the preview does it bad, so the cause is not my coding. Any problem?

I also like this new format very much. But changing to it has introduced some "chronological" mistakes. For instance, the "dialog" between users in this topic is disordered: it follows the time showed in the header, of course, but is this time that is wrong! I am replying to myself before I say my first idea!

Hi Craig,
Let me clarify the issue of "response time". We set up these forums as a venue for Origin users to share ideas and ask questions of each other. Although OriginLab staff do read posts regularly and do sometimes respond, these forums are not strictly speaking "technical support forums". If you want fast technical support from OriginLab or from one of our international distributors, you should contact technical support directly:
http://www.originlab.com/www/tech/contact.asp
We'll continue to evaluate whether or not we should initiate a Technical Support forum, but in the meantime, this is really a "user forum".
Thanks, Barb
