I'd like to create my own color palette to replace the rainbow.
As suggested by [1] I want to use 6 isoluminant colors, and a linear interpolation between them.
In the end i will use colormap to anchor the 6 base colors to 6 values of the colorscale quantity.
The 6 colors are (in RGB): red: (0.847,0.057,0.057) yellow: (0.527,0.527,0.000) green: (0.000,0.592,0.000) cyan: (0.000,0.559,0.559) blue: (0.316,0.316,0.991) magenta: (0.718,0.000,0.718)
However the create palette tool does not seem to let me choose the appropriate colors.

Origin (2016 or later) now has "Color Editor" app to create a palette or a color list: http://www.originlab.com/fileExchange/details.aspx?fid=317
Hope this helps many people, and please leave the feedback for the future improvements.

I'm afraid there is not a straight forward way in Origin to create a palette, you have to use some Origin C codes for the transform. I tried to generate a .pal file for you and the result looks like the following image:
I could share the .pal file, or the Origin C code with you, please submit a general inquiry form to tech support following this link, so that I could reply you via email and attach those files.
In addition, please note that the R G B values need to be re-scaled to 0-255.

is there a way to import that to Origin to be used as a colormap colorscale ?
