Hello,

I am facing a problem while trying to export a contour plot with Origin: When exporting it in a format capable of handling vectors (such as eps, or emf), I get a HUGE file size (25 MB), which is not compatible with a "smooth" post processing it in different programs. When exporting in a pixel format (png, tiff...), I obviously lose vector informations of captions, frames, etc...

I think a PURE vector format does not make sense for many contour plots, as the original data density is often limited (as in my case, a matrix of 200x200 points) and the vector format often blows the data size up in such cases. Saving the data as a pixel graphic would be a better option.

Does anybody know how to export a (2D) plot, where the data is saved as an array of pixels, while the rest (frames, scales, annotations... ) is kept as vectors? At least some of the formats (such as eps, pdf, tiff) can handle both pixel and vector graphics.

If this is not possible, how would you handle my particular case?

Many thanks and best regards,
Stefan

Hi,

Would you please try exporting the graph as PDF, and try the Data Compression options? The setting is under the Image Settings section of the export graph dialog.

Best Regard,
Jessie
