Hi all, this is my first post and I am a recently new user to Origin Lab.
How can I update plots when I add data to the worksheet?

Refresh command can also be triggered by F5 keyboard shortcut.

Hello,
It's right click the Graph window's title bar, instead of right click inside the graph window. E.g. if you have Graph1 window. Right click the blue title bar where Graph name (Graph1) shows. We also support it in workbook, matrix book, layout windows as well.
You can also find the Duplicate toolbar button on Standard toolbar. By default the Duplicate button is after Refresh button on Standard toolbar in 8.5.
Yes, you can add symbols, superscript, subscript, greeks in column labels, e.g. long names, comments, etc. You have to set the label row as Rich Text first and then use Format toolbar to edit super/sub script.

Sorry I still can not find the option to duplicate the graph? I have tried right click on all the windows but can not find it?

I understood you want to duplicate a graph, is that correct? If so, right click on the title bar of the graph window, and choose "Duplicate" in the context menu. Then you could rename the graph by right click title bar again and choose "Properties".

Thank-you so much JessieWoo, all of your suggestions and advice worked and solved all the problems.
I have one more question, how can I copy graphs I have already created. E.g. If I have plot1 created from worksheet 1, how can I copy plot1 and called it say plot1b.

Hi,
Please check that if the datasets you added are included in the graph.
You can check it by selecting the Data menu. And at the end of this menu, you can find that the datasets are displayed in this format: [book name]sheet name!col(A),col(B),…[row range]. Select the corresponding datasets to activate them in the graph.
If the datasets you added were not included, you can follow any methods in this link to add the datasets to the graph.
If you do have the datasets included, it is possible that either you need to refresh the graph, or you need to rescale it.
To refresh the graph, please click the Refresh button on the Standard toolbar.
To rescale the graph, please click the Rescale button on the Graph toolbar. Or you can set the Rescale mode as Auto in the Axes dialog (Double click on the axis and go to the Scale tab).
By the way, the Actively Update Plots from the View menu can be accessed when a worksheet is activated.

Hi,
Sorry I could not get either of your solutions to work.
Firstly when I click, double click, try left clicking to show menus on the plots I can not find an update feature.
Secondly my view menu does not have an "Actively Update Plots" option in the menu, and I could not find this in the help menu either.
Just to be clear I am using OriginPro 8.50 SR1
Please anymore suggestions would be really helpful, thanks. |
