Origin Ver 8.5. and Service Release SR1:
Operating System: Win 7, 64 bit.

I am trying to find the correlation coefficient for the two columns of data. Each column has 6,000,000 entries.

When I try to calculate "correlation coefficient" from menu Statistics/Descriptive Statistics, all resulting correlation coefficients are wrongly assigned to zero.

When I try to plot these data and then do "Linear Fit" from the menu Analysis/Fitting, I receive the following error: "Bad storage method variable type"

The structure of my data is quite simple. Many entries are zero in both columns, and many entries are nonzero positive values.

Any ideas of why Origin fails for my data and how to calculate the correlation coefficient?
Thank you!

I am having a similar problem to this, I am trying to plot 21 points and fit a curve to it. Whenever I try to use any of the fitting functions I set it up, then I get an error message saying 'bad storage method variable type'. Using origin 8.5.1 SR2 on OSx10.7.5 through wine
