Is there a way to put the error bars on a separate layer so they can be easily and quickly turned on/off?

Hi thuma,

As from the concept of the layer which contains the different own scale, having separate error dataset
in a different layer doesn't make sense (at least in a typical construction).

You can easily turn ON or OFF the error bars from the left panel of the Plot Details dialog box. See below:

Also, you can make your own tool buttons to turn ON or OFF, which contain the LabTalk commands.
(See "Customizing Toolbars" section in the Origin help.) For example:

layer -hp 1 2; //to turn OFF(1) error bars at the 2nd plot dataset

layer -hp 0 2; //to turn ON(0) error bars at the 2nd plot dataset

Hope this helps!
