Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 7 SR2
Operating System: Windows XP

I have the following set of data:

Column A:
9
8
7.5
7
6.7
6.4
6.1
5.8
5.5
5.2

Column B:
1.16002623
0.909839344
0.677145763
0.510666102
0.429374477
0.354635593
0.289858243
0.268788462
0.241111538
0.223880769

Column C:
0.069050081
0.060235873
0.029866789
0.027456112
0.024050336
0.013579368
0.018034238
0.018157606
0.017874324
0.011876229

I plot an XY scatter, with data from column A (x-axis) and column B (y-axis). I use data from column C as XY error bars.

I would like to compare the models Boltzmann and Logistic (the latter with a Log10 x-axis), Boltzmann and Dose Response (Sigmoidal), Dose Response and Logistic to see which one has the best fit for my data, using the Error Bars as the Weighting. In other words, compare two models with the same set of data.

How would I go about doing this? A step-by-step guide would be ideal, but any help is appreciated. If this is not possible in Origin 7, I have access to Origin 8, so instructions for that version would also be welcome.

Thanks,
Jose

Hi Jose,

As Origin7 is quite old, I suppose that it doesn't have the capability of fit results comparison. In later versions, including the latest 9.0, you can fit the data with different model functions, then you can run "Analysis: Fitting: Compare Mpdels" menu to compare different models (or "Analysis: Fitting: Compare Datasets" menu to compare two different datasets with a single model).

You can try this feature using the evaluation version of origin 9, downloadable from http://www.originlab.com/index.aspx?go=Downloads/OriginEvaluation.

P.S. I have confirmed that Origin 8.0 has both features of Compare Models and Compare Datasets.

P.P.S. I have learned that this Fit Comparison is an OriginPro feature. So, you need Pro to use this feature.
