Hi everyone,

I know this is a pretty strange issue, but it would keep my from having to adjust many graphs manually:

One can define a symbol for the legend:
\L(O SymEdgeColor,Sym,Fill,Size,ColorLn,LineStyle,Gap,LnWidth,SymFillColor, EdgeThickness)

And one can use 'links' to worksheet cells in the legend (if the substitution level is set to 1 or higher) so the value of this cell appears in the legend:
%([Book1]Sheet1,2,13)

Is it possible to replace on of the numbers in the symbol definition by the value of a cell by linking?

This does not work here:
\L(O ]%([Book1]Sheet1,2,13),1,1,5,0,0,0,0,0,0)

Hi Johannes,

It seems a bug as I have tried to specify a referential notation in \L syntax, but only a constant was accepted. I have reported this in our bug database (ORG-8041) to fix in the future release.

Hi Hideo,

thanks for your answer, but the graph itself is to complex to introduce another dataset just to get the legend. Of course I could enter the rgb-codes manually etc.

But to be honest, I was curious why my code did not work, because I see no reason why it should not work.

Hi Johannes,

The syntax is long and error prone, so I thing the following approach is more effective
for your purpose to control the legend symbol (color, size, shape, etc.):

you can add an invisible plot just for the reference to show the legend with indexing
to your control data column. Please see the screenshot below:
