I have a set of curves that I would like to average but with each curve having a different weight in the average. Is there a way to do this in Origin 9?

Hi AlisonPawlicki,

I think there is no straightforward way to make a weighted-averaged curve at this moment.
I will suggest to our developers to improve the Average Multiple Curves tool.
The following may be a possible work-around:

1) Using "Analysis: Math: Interpolate/Extrapolate" with the same number of points,
minimum X, and maximum X, make a X-shared worksheets, i.e., XYY...Y designated.

2) Enter the weight value in the comment header rows for Ys, and create new columns
multiplied by the weight value (obtained by e.g., %(col(2)[C]$) for the second column)
from the original column. (column E--G in the sample screenshot below).

3) Create the weighted-average Y column (column H in the sample screenshot).
Plot this against the shared X.



If you need to process in a more general way, you need to make a script to go through the above steps.
