Hi everyone,
I just tried to copy data from an excel worksheet into a origin project (more exact: into a origin workbook). I could not copy anymore than 65490 rows of ~100 000 rows. Even if I tried to copy the remaining 35000 rows I only got one additional row in row 65491.
I also tried to copy the data into an excel sheet that has been newly created within origin. I got an error about a "range mismatch" (no idea how the term in english is).
I only found http://www.originlab.com/www/support/resultstech.aspx?ID=292&language=English&Version=All which is pretty old, but nevertheless speaks of 5 million rows.
Is there an actual limit for the number of rows? Or is this similar to the bug that no more than 256 columns could be copied (which has been solved in 8.6 IIRC)?

Hi Matthew,
setting @XLP to zero does help and I can paste all the rows now.
At first I lost all the decimal places of all values (points showing 10.1, 9.5 or 10.4 all show up as 10 ). So my graphs looked pretty funny now. But then I found out that now just the values, that are shown in excel, are imported. And I had the formatting set to 'no decimal places' in excel, so 10.4 ended up as 10.
Changed that, and it works. I can live with that, but I hope for our IT to provide 9.0 as soon as possible.

Hi Johannes,
That does seem like a hassle; the other solution would be to try setting the variable @XLP to equal 0 from the command window. This should allow you to copy and paste the data directly.
And yes, this bug was fixed for Origin 9.0.

Hello Matthew,
that was what I first tried after I noticed the problem. I could import the file, although I got a huge number of errors ("Server ist ausgelastet" in German), saying something about the server being unter high load and 'this procedure cannot be conducted because the other application is active' (roughly translated from german). After hitting 'repeat' for a while the import dialog opened, and after some more errors I had a sheet with all the rows. I could copy from there into the other origin project without any problems.
But this is rather ugly to handle, each time something changes in one of the many excel files, I'll have to go through the import, click away some errors and copy the results. Which takes some time, with Origin waiting and showing the hourglass for 15s, each time I want to copy.
Is Origin 9.0 able to have more than 65000 rows copied into a sheet?

Hi Johannes,
You should be able to import the data if you go to File > Import > Excel and select your Excel file.
Let me know if that still doesn't work for you.
