Hello Guys,
I'm a medical researcher new to origin. I wanted to manipulate scale on Y-axis(and X-axis)to be more suitable to be presented. I have data which goes from 30-5000. Most of it is concentrated with 30-100 region. IS there a way that allow me to make this 30-100 region occupy major part(say 50%) of Y-axis and put the rest of region(100-5000) in remaining scale. I dont want to add another layer/axis yet because I have some other parameters to be added in the same chart that will need another layer.
I have tried Breaks, but it cuts the whole region off.

Hello Hach,
It's actually very easy to do it in 9.1 since 9.1 supports axis break with From and To values to be the same.
Suppose your Y scale is from 30 to 5000.
Double click Y axis.
Go to Breaks node and set number of breaks to 1.
Then go to Break 1 node and set Break From and Break To value both to be 100.
By default, the break position is 50% of the axis.
--> Now, 30-100 will be bottom half of the Y axis. 100 to 5000 will be top half of the axis.
After closing the axis db, you can drag the break mark on Y axis to move the break position.
Also you have full control of axis type and ticks on each segment of the axis. 1st part (30 to 100) will be controlled by Scale node of Y axis. 100 to 5000 will be controlled by Break1 node After Break Scale and After Break Tick Labels part.
You can also set Break Half Length (on Breaks node) to be 0 so break mark doesn't show in axis.
Go to Special Ticks: Left node and set a special ticks to show at y=100 position.

What will be the custom formula (and its inverse formula) for scaling on X axis for the following values:
100, 125, 150, 750, 1350, 1950, 2550, 3150

Hi,
This custom scale will be supported in Origin 9.1. Basically, you need to define a piecewise function for the custom formula Scale type.

Well thats really bad. cuz Log scales and all the other options wont cut it for me..

Hi,
There isn't a way to specify a custom scale like that, but if you double click on the axis you want to adjust to open the Axis Dialog, you can go to the Scale tab, and select a non-linear type scale such as log10.
