Origin 8.6.
Haw can I display data from chart in log scale for Y-axis if the values are negative? Values are big and i want to use log scale (symmetrical log) to display but there is a problem with negative value on chart.

Hi,

You can add a new column, use the below formula to set values:

sign(x) * log(1 + abs(x)),

Then use this column to plot the graph. Please note: when you use the data reader to read the data info, the result are not real log value. (ORG-7470)

In the upcoming Origin 9.1, it supports to use the direct and inverse formula to specify the axis scale. This would be a better solution. See details here, https://originlab.jira.com/wiki/display/main/User+Defined+Axis+Scale+Type
