Hi all,

I have a pretty basic question. I would like to insert a threshold ZY plane into my 3D surface plot at an arbitrary value. Basically, I would like to recreate this: http://www.originlab.com/www/helponline/origin/en/UserGuide/Multiple_3D_Surfaces_with_Intersection.html graph, but with the plane at X = 6. Is this possible?

On my plot, I've tried playing with the MSheet values and setting the first column (or the first row) to be my desired value, but neither of those gave me the result that I wanted.

Is such a thing even possible within Origin?

Thanks so much for helping!

Hi shortbushero,

In my sample, the key technique is that you you can make and put a 3D parametric functional surface of
an X-constant plane (say, X(u,v)=6; Y(u,v)=u; Z(u,v)=v) into the same layer of the surface plot of your data.

Good luck!

Shoot. Thank you very much Hideo. I'll look into upgrading and I'll play around with it.

Much appreciated.

Hi shortbushero,

It requires OpenGL-based 3D graphic capability, which is only available in Origin 9.0 or later.
So, sorry, but you are out of luck.

You can try this feature in the Origin 9.0 evaluation version:
