Operating System: Windows 7
Is it possible to plot several z axes at once on a 2D ternary graph (scatter plot)? If I highlight more than on z axes and try to plot, I get a message that only one can be selected. I cannot find anything in the documentation about plotting several sample populations at once. |

If you have multiple XYZ triplets then it is possible to plot all Z as Ternary at once. Do not select any columns when choosing Plot : Specialized : Ternary and this will bring up the Plot Setup dialog.
If the Plot List Panel is not displayed, click the  button in the lower right of the dialog.
You can now select X, Y and Z and click ADD and repeat as needed.
If you use Normalization (select Help : Reactivate Reminder Messages if no prompt comes up) then the X Y you select must be unique for each Z. |

So you will have for columns: A(X), B(Y), C(Z) and D.
1). Highlight col(D), right click and select "Set as categorical".
2). Plot your ternary scatter with XYZ columns.
3). Use col(D) to indicates category. (Symbol color indexed by col(D), for example)
4). Right click the legend and select "Legend: Categorical Values"
A categorical legend will thus be generated automatically.
Then you can customize your graph further (indexed color increment list, legend sequence, etc.) |

I'll look into this. I've never used catagory data. I presume this allows one to build a figure legend. |

I think what you are asking for is a little difficult to implement.
We only allow one Z column selected at once is because the XYZ data in a ternary plot should be normalized (X+Y+Z=1 or 100), which means for one XY, there is only one corresponding Z value.
So I guess what you want is more like categorical data, different Z column indicates different categories. In this case, you need to put all data in the same column (because there is no overlap) and use another column as category information.
Or, you have to use "layer Contents" or "Plot Setup" dialog to add more datasets to your graph (Notice that the software will not check and normalize the data for you by doing this).
