Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.5.0 SR1
Operating System: Windows 8

I have the following issues with my Origin application. I would like to know if these are only specific to my desktop and if so, how it can be solved.

My Origin sessions have become progressively slower over the last 2 months. Over this time, I have saved a lot of user files ranging from graph templates to .ogs script files. I typically deal with project sizes ranging from 30MB to 80MB, but these slowdowns occur for smaller project sizes. I am not only complaining about the way it hangs up for a few seconds while saving, but also about glitches when I perform analysis like linear fit or import. One particularly annoying thing is it takes about 6-7 seconds to open command window using short-cut ALT+3. There are a lot of glitches when I move it around the main window in order to see other windows in the project, the main window blinks just the way as if origin has become very busy.

Another inconvenient thing about origin is its computational speed for various analysis or data processing. The same tasks in matlab would be done in a flash, whereas it would take several seconds, all the windows will start blinking as if they are on the brink of hanging up. The kind of tasks I am talking of are very simple but involve large datasets: one typical example is taking a dataset of two columns of 15000 rows and break it in several subsets satisfying certain constraints and pasting them in another workbook. Is it normal for origin to be this slow compared to other packages?

Can upgrading to higher versions improve my origin experience?
