Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.6.0
Operating System:

Hello,

I have a problem in making a symbol+line graph with a categorigal Y-axis (X is numerical). I put the data in the same book and plot them all in the same graph. I would like to have a symbol+line graph, but I only get symbols. The data is given below:

This is the picture I would like to get (Fig.1):

And this is the picture I get now (Fig.2):

With the previous version we had in use the graph (Fig.1) was done easily. With OriginPro 8.6.0 the line between the symbols is missing (Fig.2), even though it says that this plotting type has been selected. I'm not very skilled in the use of Origin, so I would very much appreciate any advice you could give me. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

What you just mentioned is a bug for version 8.6.0, but this problem is already been taken care of in newly released version 9.1. You can try out the demo of version 9.1.

However, there still a workaround for version 8.6.0 to plot this graph.I will show the procedure step by step.
1.Create index label as shown below:

2.Select column: A to F and Plot:Line+Symbol, and you will see the graph below:

3.Set Y axis label type as Tick-indexed datas and in the Dataset choose column G as input:

4.Apply and click OK, set X scale From 100 and Type Log10, Apply and click Ok.

5.You will obtain figure below:
