dear all :)

i am considering using origin for the analysis of my spectroscopic data. I make Raman images and want to compare different regions of the image (cluster analysis). when i import the file, each pixel of the image contains 1024 points describing the whole spectrum at each spot. the image is actually created from the average of some range i choose. so i have 1 x-column, and as many y-columns as there are pixel. each of them contains 1024 rows. due to the nature of the material, the background intensity changes pretty much over the whole image.
now i have the following problem: i did the baseline substraction by setting points in 1 of the spectra and saving the spots. then i do an interpolation with some smoothening - works all really nice. also the batch analysis works, but is really slow (i have up to 1295 or even more y-columns and it takes forever...) so 1. is there a way how to make it faster? 2. the points i set are stored with x&y coordinates, but since my background intensity varies quite a lot, in many of the individual sprectra the baseline is actually not found. i want to find a way to keep the x values, but automatically find the y values. i tried the autofinder, but it puts the spots in bad locations, so i cannot use it.
so concretely:
1. increase the computational speed (it takes ~1h for just 1 image)
2. have the y of the background spots automatically adjusted to where the data points are

wondering if anybody has used/implemented such a function?? i am bad at programming, so i do not expect myself to be able to built a function...unfortunately.

i hope i was able to make my question clear :) and looking foward to some help!

Thank you,
Sophie

Hi,

For the 2rd problem, You can use Analysis: Mathematics: Interpolate/Extrapolate Y from X tool and specify the X values to interpolate be your X column.
But this need to separate the interpolate and smooth into two steps, which slow the process even more.
