Posted - 05/01/2014 : 3:18:09 PM Hi,
I use a contour map to display a large amount of data (approx. 600000 points). The plot looks fine except that I get loads of spikes.
I guess this comes from data points that lie farther away from the rest of the points in that area. Can I specify something like a maximum distance of points to include in one area?
Anything else I can do to avoid the spikes?
Thank you!

Just I was thinking...
For me, your plot doesn't look like a "contour", but rather like a scatter to show the point density without contour lines (or ill connected ones). Have you made this plot from a XYZ worksheet, not from a matrix? Not sure if workable, but have you also tried to convert XYZ worksheet to a matrix by random (if your data points are not regular) gridding? If not, maybe it's worth to experiment so, I guess.
