Posted - 05/10/2015 : 4:32:06 PM Hi everybody
I would like to fit an experimental curve using 3 other experimental curves . We don't know the algebric function of the 3 curves, we have only these data, so an x column and 3 y columns. The best fitting functions obtained must be a linear combinations of the three base lineshapes.
thanks

Posted - 05/12/2015 : 02:04:08 AM Hi,
What exactly do you want to fit? Fit all three Ys with a same fitting function or concatenate three Ys into 1 curve and fit it?
As I mentioned before, if you are not sure what function is suitable for your data, you can run fitting for a list of functions and choose the best fitted model.

Posted - 05/11/2015 : 12:40:21 PM Hi,
These tutorials are very interesting. My 3 curves are not described by a known mathematical function but only by a x (the same for the 3) and y (different for the 3) columns.
How to do this??

Posted - 05/10/2015 : 11:37:44 PM Hi,
Since Origin 9.1, a Rank Model tool has been implemented to allow you fit your dataset with multiple functions and rank the fitting results to obtain the best model.
A video tutorial and reference page are shown below: http://www.originlab.com/Index.aspx?go=Support/VideoTutorials&pid=1931
http://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/fitrank-multi-func
For multiple datasets, if it is replicate data from repeat measurement, you can use our Concatenate fit:
http://www.originlab.com/index.aspx?go=Products/Origin/DataAnalysis/CurveFitting&pid=1190
If you want to fit all three curves as a group for different fitting models, you may refer to this newly written blog:
http://blog.originlab.com/data-analysis/script-to-find-best-fitting-model-for-each-data-in-each-group-and-create-summary-report
However, all the function mentioned above are implemented in version later than 6.0.
You can try downloading a demo version Origin 2015 to try out those features:
