Here is typically what I would like to do:
An external program (Fortran in my case) makes an optimization. Each step of the optimization computes a function (let us imagine for instance the cross section of a cylinder, given by a file with 2 columns giving the datasets X and Y for the plot).
I would like to get an Origin plot, which would reflect automatically the plot of the cross-section for each step of the optimization.
Is it possible?
If it is, how to do?
Thanks,
Gérard Tayeb

Mike,

I tried to experiment DDE possibilities. Since I do not master DDE, I began between Origin and Excel, and it works.
I will try to find a solution with Fortran.
Thanks,

Gerard

Hi Gerard,

Origin can act as a DDE server. Can Fortran be a DDE client? If so your Fortran program could pass the optimization results to Origin via DDE.
