I have plotted Vertical histogram with positive and negative values for my experimental dataset in Origin8.0. I could not find the option to display the negative X-axis. I could generate positive X-axis by
1. Double-click on the X axis to bring up the X Axis Dialog Box.
2. Choose the Title & Format tab.
3. Choose the Top icon (Top X axis) from the Selection list box located on the left side of the Title & Format tab.
4. Check the Show Axis and Ticks check box.

Hi,
If so there is no direct way to add a second X axis, but you can add a dummy layer to show that axis.
Go to menu Graph: New Layer (Bottom X Right Y) and set the X range From and To the same as 1st layer. You can then remove tick labels and ticks on right Y.
It will be like the graph below:

Thanks Sean for the reply. Actually what I am looking is to display another or 2nd or bottom X axis in the bottom panel as what I am showing in the top. Since the values representation shown as in the X-axis doesn't looks informative and looks cluttered. Its better to make another X-axis in the bottom and show X-axis values there. |

Hi,
From the plot, I see you are making a column plot rather than a histogram. If you have negative X column, the negative X range should be shown by default as shown below:
In Origin 8, you will need to manually create the negative X value columns to make corresponding column bars to show at desired negative x values. Simply change X range From to negative value will only reveal the negative X range but with no data.

Hi,
Do you mean you want to turn both Top and Bottom X axis on?
On step 4, you should continue to select Major Ticks type and Minor Ticks type which is None (turned off) by default.
Then you can click Custom Tick Labels tab, and highlight Top on Selection panel, check Show Major Labels box to reveal the tick labels on Top X.
