Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2015 64bit sr2
Operating System: Win 7

Using Graph; Add Straight Line I added a vertical line to a plot. Now I want use the Intersect Gadget to find the intersections of that line with other lines on the plot. But this new vertical line does not show up in the Change Data list.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Derek

Hi Derek,

If you go to our website and choose Communities: User File Exchange.

We have Distance tool to calculate dx, dy and distance between two points in graph.
http://originlab.com/fileExchange/details.aspx?fid=115

You can download it (*.opx file).
Drag and drop it into Origin workspace to add a toolbar for it.

Since 2016, we introduced App in Origin where user can add more useful and free tools. Tools: Apps on File Exchange:

We made an improved Distance app in 2016.

Hi Snow
I tried the Vertical Cursor gadget. It works well enough. I can use it but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

I want to find the delta Y between two points on a graph... I use the Quick Fit Gadget; New Output to place extrapolated linear fit lines extending off of two sections of the plot. Then I want to find the intersections of these two lines and the new vertical line. So I have been using two data cursors and the Data Info window (set to display Relative Cursor1- Cursor2). Sometimes it is tricky because the data cursor only wants to jump to "real data" lines, and it does not glue to the vertical line. It would be nice if the Vertical Line had a option to be a "real data" line.

Hello,

I am thinking you can directly use Gadgets: Vertical Cursor for this.

When u use this gadget, it will add a vertical line in graph. The first button in Vertical Cursor dialog can add tags. Then you can move the straight line to another location and tag again.

It supports multiple plots or multiple layers in one graph. Also tag in other linked graph windows.

We have two videos about this:

and

Thanks, Snow
