Hi,
when I wanted to make overviews of Graphs on a Layout in Origin 6.1 I just clicked with the right mouse button and could select and place a Graph somewhere.
Now in Origin 7 the Graph is disorted with a default size of 1000x1000 pixel.
How can I place Graphs in a Layout maintaining the original aspect ratio?
Can I anywhere define the default picture size to keep the aspect ratio?

Furthermore, how can I include Graphs in a Layout via LabTalk Script?

Thanks,
Tilman.

Hi all,
could I make a new feature request here:
allow us to set a default picture size for pasting into the layout. If we're inserting multiple graphs into a layout which we want to be the same size (exactly), it's tedious to have to keep manually editing the size textbox after each paste.
Thanks,
Roger

Thanks Mike & Greg,
yes, it seemed that I had to go to Origin7 SR3.
After quite some reading and download (7 MB instead of 4.6 MB) I could install SR3. Now, it's keeping the aspect ratio of the graph! (it did not in my SR2).

"dotool -pg" opens the select dialog but how should
"dotool -pg Graph1" work?
I couldn't place any graph even manually with the mouse in the layout.

In Origin 7, when you add a graph to a Layout window you can click (without drag) to place the graph or click-and-drag to place and size the graph - (in effect drawing the limits of the graph). The aspect ratio of the graph is set to 'keep aspect ratio' and with the click-without-drag we start with a 1000 by 1000 size and force one dimension smaller to maintain aspect ratio. SR3 makes this a bit clearer when using click-and-drag by keeping fixed the aspect ratio of the drawn rectangle while dragging.

I'm not sure why you see 1000 by 1000 unless the page dimensions of the source graph have been set to a 1:1 aspect ratio. Do you have an unusual 'square page' printer?

The dialog that handles the graph/worksheet selection can be launched from script (dotool -pg for graphs and dotool -pw for worksheets), but the placement is under user control and not script accessible.

Hi Tilman,

I don't see this problem in Origin 7 SR3. When I add a graph to a layout page the aspect ratio seems correct and Keep Aspect Ratio is checked by default.

This will add Graph1 to the active layout page...

dotool -pg Graph1;
