Hi All,
I am looking for method can plot cartesian and polar in on single graph. Something looks like this:

Can Origin do this in a simple way or I should use code?
And I can use it as a template and implement different data.

Thank you all.

Hi Amanda,

One question, I cannot access the jira link you provided for the white out issue. It said permission denied.

Thanks.

Hi,

1. How origin have scales without overlapping the axis?

axis tick label doesn't support background as white out right now. We have a jira to improve it:
https://originlab.jira.com/browse/ORG-15313

Right now you can add text object as tick label manually. Right click on the object and select Properties, and then you can choose Whiteout for background.

2. I still don't know how to rotate the polar plot in your orientation.

You can double click on the axis to open the Axis dialog. Select Angular Axes item on the left. You can then rotate angular axis over 90 degree by Orientation -> Axis Start at (deg.).

Please refer to "Steps to Create the Polar Graph and Customize the Axes" section, step 4 of the following tutorial:
http://www.originlab.com/doc/Tutorials/Polar-Crop

3. Is it possible to have borders and scales like in the example?
Yes, you can use Crop feature. Please refer to "Steps to Crop the Polar Graph" section, step 1 of tutorial above.

Thanks,
Amanda

Thanks for your answers.
For the plot on the left hand side. I want to show tick labels from 0 deg to 100 deg. What can I do this in axis dialog?

Thanks again,
Jinya

Which version of Origin are you using paparaji? We made some major improvement in polar graph customization in recent years.

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for your help. Additional questions:

2. I still don't know how to rotate the polar plot in your orientation.

3. Is it possible to have borders and scales like in the example?

Thanks so much,

HI,

Origin cannot do this by one click, but you can plot polar and Cartesian graph separately and then merge them into one graph (Graph: Merge Graph Windows).

Thanks,
Amanda
