Posted - 10/30/2016 : 06:33:17 AM Hello to everybody. I have a question, very important for me. How can I get the standard deviation of a slope for a linear fit ? I can get the so-called "Standard Error" that it seems to be quite different from standard deviation. I tried in different ways but I am unable to get it. I hope in your suggestion. I use Origin 2015. Thanks in advance. |

Hello Jacqueline,
Thank you so much for your response. Anyway other colleagues of your team, in past similar topics, replied about similar questions in this way (http://originlab.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8674):
quote: Standard error of parameter is a qualitative parameter , so it is not possible compare the parameter standard error between two fit.
This value permits to give a primary impression on goodness of the fitted parameters. Usually, to see if the magnitude of the standard error values are less than the fitted values.
In my case, the standard error seems quite different of the standard deviation that I calculated from myself and not automatically.. Any suggestions/explanations about it ?

Posted - 10/31/2016 : 05:24:50 AM Hi,
For the parameters (slope), the "Standard Error"= "Standard Deviation".
If you want to get the fitting curve standard deviation (square root of mean square error), you can check the Root-MSE (SD) box under the Fit Statistics section of Quantities in the Linear Fit dialog.
