Posted - 11/20/2016 : 6:01:32 PM Hello, I've been using Origin (9.1) to make contoured ternary plots (and surface plots) for some time now, but can't seem to figure out how to extract the model data for a user-specified set of xyz coordinates.
-I know that it's possible to extract data for the contour lines, but this is not what I'm looking for.
-With the data reader tool, I'm only able to read the model values for the original control points used to the make the plot
-Ideally I would like to enter a set of xyz values, and extract the corresponding fourth value (the second z in xyzz) from the model.
Does anyone know if this is possible with the version I'm using? Or whether this is possible with OriginPro?
Thanks in advance for any input |

Posted - 11/21/2016 : 1:17:11 PM Hi Jacqueline, I gave that a try, but unfortunately the results of the different flavors of interpolation are not all that close to the results of the ternary contour plot (visual reading of plot at some test coordinates).
However, I appreciate learning something new about Origin functionality with the interpolation tool. |

Posted - 11/21/2016 : 06:04:16 AM Hi,
I am afraid that the Data Reader tool can not get the XYZZ dataset from the plot.
But if you want to get the Z2 value from the XYZ1(ternary dataset), you can try to use "Interpolate Z from XY" tool.
1. Ternary Z1 should be calculated from X and Y value. Z1=100-X-Y or Z1=1-X-Y. 2. Z2 could be interpolate from X and Y value. Choose "Analysis: Mathematics:Interpolate Z from XY" in the menu. Please refer to this setting:
Also, you can choose different method for interploation,
Please refer to this help page for this tool: http://www.originlab.com/doc/X-Function/ref/interp2
