Posted - 11/22/2016 : 10:49:45 AM Hi all, just like to ask if anyone knows how to translate only one curve horizontally? I have one plot with 8 curves and I plotted them on stacked Y offset and two curves have shifted a bit so I want to move them in the horizontal way. But whenever I do that, all the curves shift together. Would be nice if someone knows how to solve that. Thanks!
Best Regards,

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. Just now I did it with the plot details with the x offset inside. Thanks a lot

Posted - 11/22/2016 : 12:18:21 PM Hi Otto,
If you simply want to move one plot visually by setting an X offset, Snow's method is a way to go.
I suppose your worksheet is organized as XYY...Y , thus simply updating X values by the Translate tool, of course, moves all curves together as they share the same X's. So, if you want to move a single plot by the Horizontal Translate tool, you can do the following either approach:
1) Having a Translate tool on a graph, choose "Translate Duplication> New Columns" shortcut by pressing the tiny triangle button on the anchor line. Setting this, when you can translate a single curve, by creating a new XY columns.
Or,
2) By copy-and-pasting the X column, reorganize your worksheet to XYXY...XY . Ploting this data, you can translate a plot individually.
Hope this also helps.

Posted - 11/22/2016 : 12:00:31 PM Hi Snow,
Thanks a lot for the reply! I'm not sure whether it's because of different version of Origin (I'm using Origin 2016), it seems like the way they showed in the video did not work for me. But it was helpful actually. Thanks again

Posted - 11/22/2016 : 11:20:03 AM Doing translation will change values of data. Do you want to do it or just move curve in graph horizontally instead of changing values?
If it's latter, this video may be what you want http://originlab.com/Index.aspx?go=Support/VideoTutorials&pid=2135
Thanks, Snow |
