Origin Ver. 9.1.0 and Service Release SR2(Select Help-->About Origin):
Operating System: Windows 8

Trying to understand how to manipulate the position of the x axis of for Box Plots using raw data (not indexed). Seems that Origin numbers the plots 1, 2, 3 etc and creates an X axis that goes from 0.5 to 3.5 (for 3 boxes).

What does X Position drop-down on the bottom of the Box tab do? Does it just change the labels on the x axis, or can it reorder the plots. What does the Parameters drop-down selection do?

What if I want to move the Box plots to the right (not centered). Any way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you.
This was exactly what I was trying to understand.

Hi bermanmf,

> What if I want to move the Box plots to the right (not centered)

The "X Position" option in the Box tab in Plot Details dialog for the Box chart actually let the boxes
move to the X positions in the scale specified e.g., in the column header rows such as in Comment.
See the attached screenshot. I have add 0.3 to the original positions (1, 2, 3) to put the values
in the Comment header row. (I have expand the X scale to 0.5--4.0 to fit all boxes inside the frame.)

(Also, to deal with the tick labels and the legend, I have set: In Axis dialog, Tick Labels tab,
Type=Column Name or Label; In Plot Details dialog ("Format: Page Properties" menu),
Legend/Titles tab, Transition Mode=@LA:Long Name)

Hope this helps.
