Posted - 07/08/2003 : 02:53:18 AM Hello,
I've faced with the problem (in Origin 7 only): When I try to import the following type of ascii table 0 100.000 2.8854E7 -0.03812 8 304.11525 2.8855E7 0.365 10 303.55541 2.88505E7 0.39237 12 303.42469 2.8857E7 0.43192 14 303.06681 2.8862E7 0.47742 16 303.26601 2.8861E7 0.55115 18 303.8537 2.8861E7 0.62658 20 -------- -------- -------- 0.51364 2.8868E7 49.76775 18 -------- -------- -------- 275.70519 2.8869E7 49.713 16 -------- -------- -------- 276.0369 2.88625E7 49.713 14 -------- -------- -------- 274.69407 2.88635E7 49.786 12 -------- -------- -------- 275.96704 2.88545E7 49.786 10 -------- -------- -------- 274.62397 2.8859E7 49.786
- only first 4 columns enter into the Origin worksheet; When I change Ascii Options import ("when non-numeric is found..") to "read as missing data" Origin deletes non-numeric cells and the rows are shifted up - it's not suitable for me. When I change the option to "start new worksheet/column" it opens second worksheet - it's not suitable too.
I need Origin to properly show my txt table. Can anybody help me? Thank You.

Posted - 07/08/2003 : 10:37:51 AM Hi,
When you bring up the File Open dialog for ASCII import, select the file, then click on the Options button, and change the following settings: 1> Change "# of columns" radio to first option, and enter 7 2> Specify delimiter to be "space" (I am assuming it is space - I had to cut and paste from the forum which does not support tabs etc - check your delimiter)
