Hi,
I want to fit some data of binding studies to calculate binding constants, equilibrium constants using Scatchard ,Linweaver-Burk type of functions. Is there any pre-defined functions available in Origin6 for biological data?
Thanks!

Hi,

it's worth pointing out that you do NOT want to use linear transformations such as scatchard and lineweaver burke plots for calculating binding constants. You should use non linear regression and only use the lnear plots for display purposes.

Cheers,

Pete

Hi,

The Nonlinear Fitter (NLSF Tool or Fitting Wizard) has many built-in functions that are arranged in categories such as Pharmacology, Chromatography etc. You could look at these built-in fitting functions to see if any of those meet your needs.

If you do not find a suitable function in the built-in collection of functions, you can easily add your own custom fitting function. If you have ver 7 or higher, you can define your function using Origin C which would perform fitting much faster than scripting the function in earlier versions.

If you need help with defining your functions, please look at the help topic "User-Defined Fitting Functions" under Curve Fitting->Nonlinear Least Squares Fitter. If you have further questions, please post here.
