Posted - 11/23/2003 : 11:22:13 AM Hi,
I am almost despaired with indexing data elements using a column with categories for symbol color or shape (Origin 7). The following happens with my 34 points in scatter plot : - If I use color indexing with 3 colors (with categorical values 1, 2, or 3) I get wrong colors in the scatter plot, e.g. color 1 was assigned to 8 Y-values, but appear in 22 points. - If I use shape indexing, most of the points simply disapear when using the "Overlapped Points Offset Ploting".
Does anybody have a solution? Thanks, Andrej

Posted - 11/23/2003 : 3:40:34 PM This problem was reported but not yet fixed (#5159). With "Overlapped Points Offset Plotting", both color and shape indexing have problems. With Color indexing, all the offset points are black(Color index=1) regardless of their locations in the worksheet. This bug will be fixed in Origin7.5 service release SR1.

Posted - 11/23/2003 : 2:18:14 PM Hi,
I tried a simple scatter plot and tried using a categorical column with 1,2,3 as values, and used that to index color of the plot and it worked fine. Can you send your project to tech support so that we can take a look at what is the problem?
Thanks,
