I am using Origin 7 SR4 under Windows XP.
My problem is that the Dataset anmes are not available when I do e.g. a t-test. They are marked with dashes and cannot be changed.
Since I do not use this item frequently, I did not notice it earlier.
What can be the problem?

Hi Guy,

You should be receiving an email from technical support soon if you haven't already. Below is a copy of the email for others who might be interested.

Gary

********************************************************************

This email is in response to your recent forum post regarding data set names not showing up in the Origin 7 SR4 t-Test dialog. We tried but can not reproduce the problem here in Origin 7 SR4 on a Windows XP computer. I have the following suggestions.

First, make sure your column Formats are not Text and that your column designations are not Label (L). The t-Test does not list Text or Label Columns. But the fact that -- is showing up and that other statistics tools seem to work OK indicates this is probably not the problem. Second, try copying the attached Origin 7 SR4 files into your Origin folder overwriting the existing same named Origin files. I suspect some sort of file corruption. If that does not work then open the Origin Script window, type Echo=7 and press ENTER. Then launch the t-Test tool. All executed script code including any error messages should echo in the Script window. Please send that text to me for analysis. You might also want to send me a sample project file that exhibits the problem for analysis (just in case the problem is related to some sort of problem with the project file). Finally, if all else fails, you may want to try re-installing Origin.

The problem occurs with both default and named columns and also with labeled columns.

The names in other dialogs look normal.

Hi,

Do you see this problem with default columns/names, or only with some specific columns you named? Do you see the names otherwise fine in drop-downs in other dialogs?
