Hi,

I'd like to do a colour coded grid eg 12x8 based on text values.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Pete

HI Easwar,

Maybe I'm not seeing the woods for the trees but with Excel I would colour code cells programmatically with a nice border etc..

I had intended to use a graph sheet to represent plate layout but my ideal would be to have a grid displaying signal values and colour coded...where I could delete / mask...but one step at a time. It would look neater on a graph window as opposed to a worksheet and enable better integration with other spects of application eg combining with data plot of controls vs plate no. (I also recollect some reference to Flexgrid (that Origin uses)).

Cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete,

How do you do this in Excel? By entering text data into worksheet cells, and then control-selecting cells with same text and assigning colors? Manually, or programmatically? Perhaps send us a sample if more complicated than this?

Is something like above, for the Origin worksheet, is what you are looking for? Or would it be more useful to have text entries in a matrix and then use image plot of matrix? Would each "Cell" in the image need to have the text shown as well as the color?

Hi,

Thanks for replies. Yes, I don't actually want a scatter plot as such. What I'm after is eg a colour representation of a plate map where well position might be eg dose1, dose2, max, min as I could easily do with excel.

Cheers,

pete

One can always make scatter plots of each grid points by constructing XYC columns in a worksheet, where the C column will contain text values. Using categorical mapping, setting symbol color to index by col(C) will do the job.

But I think what peter is asking for is to have text matrix in Origin, such that making an image plot from a matrix of text values will automatically generate colors using categorical mappings to convert these text cells into enumerated color indexes.

Hi Pete,

Not sure what you mean - can you provide more details?

Thanks,
