Hi,
I am using Origin 6.1 on Windows XP OS. After drawing a LINE using line tool, always gives it's default structure (thickness 1pts, color black, style solid) and is not straight. Whenever I tried to make the line straight using the <Shift> key the line simply disappears from the graph window.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

I have no idea what system files (if any) are required to display Origin objects but I doubt that you could be missing anything that would not affect other programs as well. Have you rebooted your machine since you started seeing this problem? That sometimes fixes these odd sort of problems.

Meanwhile, you can use the following command to draw a line of specific width and orientation...

draw -w size -l {Xa,Ya,Xb,Yb};

size is the line width in points, (Xa,Ya) are the coordinates of one end of the line and (Xb,Yb) are the coordinates of the other end.

It seems that the problem is complecated since the XP I am using is updated with all the available update I found. I think that may be the cause. Could you please tell me the names of the OS system files that Origin requires to display all the objects.

I still can't reproduce the problem. The line never disappears when I go through those steps.

I should elaborate it -
1> On any graph window draw a "near" vertical line.
2> right click on the line to go to it's Properties.
3> reduce the thickness of the line to 0.5 or 0.2 pts.
4> click Close
5> again select the line.
6> try to make it "perfectly" vertical by any means.
7> click outside the line and I have seen the line to disappear.

I can't reproduce that in OriginPro 6.1 on XP pro. Moving one end of the line while pressing <Shift> snaps the line to horizontal or vertical alignment and the line does not disappear.

Have you tried the Horizontal and Vertical Alignment buttons on the Arrow toolbar?
